I am a qualified native Russian teacher who recently moved to Bristol. I have two degrees from Saint Petersburg State University, one is a specialist degree in teaching Russian as a foreign language and the other is a degree in cultural studies. I am an easy going person that enjoys chatting and meeting new people. I enjoy swimming and travelling.
I have taught Russian as a foreign language since October 2014. I started my career teaching at the University of Gdansk in Poland. I taught students of all levels from beginners to advanced, in groups and individually. While studying at Saint Petersburg State University I gained experience working with international students who were studying Russian there. Upon graduation from University I started to work at "Marines" Language School in Saint-Petersburg. This involved teaching general and technical Russian to foreign naval specialists. Whilst working at language school I taught individuals and groups privately. I am currently a Russian Teacher at Colston's Girls' School and Bristol Language School.
I have always believed that learning languages must not only be challenging but also engage interest. This is why I employ a variety of different techniques in lessons, since I believe that learning through all mediums (speaking, writing, listening and reading) makes mastering language easier. I like to use a variety of media sources such as videos, news articles and recordings to keep vocabulary current. However, I recognise that all students are different and therefore I do my utmost to tailor an individual approach. I do not use English in my lessons since I try to get students used to sound of the language from the outset. Although it may be required in certain situations to explain grammatical structures.
