Home Tuition for Maths and English in Waltham Forest

I am a qualified secondary school teacher with a wealth of experience in both classroom and one to one teaching. I have a BA in Social Policy from the University of York and a Secondary PGCE from Birmingham City University.

I currently work as an offsite teacher for a London based independent school and charity, teaching students one on one, primarily in English and math's.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 5 years experience teaching in secondary schools where my main subjects were religious studies, philosophy and ethics as well as history and sociology. I have experience teaching GCSE and A level classes and have attended AQA courses on marking and exam technique.

I have been tutoring for just over 5 years and during this time I have taught math's and English at primary and secondary level, including GCSE, and religious studies and philosophy at GCSE and A Level. In all cases I have been able to build up a great working relationship with my tutees and improve their confidence in the subject as well as their attainment. I spent over 2 years in Australia during which time I home schooled primary age children in all subjects and was able to make the lessons enjoyable and engaging, helping the students to learn.

I also have qualifications in teaching English as a foreign language and have taught both business and conversational English one to one and to a small group.

Tutoring Approach

I am an approachable, patient and reliable tutor. The tutoring session should be one where the student feels comfortable to ask questions and make mistakes, working at a pace that suits them. I aim to give students confidence in own their abilities as well as improving their understanding of the subject. I ensure my sessions are varied to keep students interested and engaged, using a variety of different resources and activities. I teach students skills to be able to study independently and better able to tackle any subject that they may face.
