I am a qualified chartered accountant who has worked in finance for many years until I gave up to teach Maths. I have loved teaching all levels from nursery to year 13. From the weaker child who just needs to get out of their shell and realise they knew it all along and to then embrace it and excel, to the gifted child who enjoys extension work through mathematical puzzles, and of course all levels in-between. I have been doing this for just over 10 years and been fortunate enough to guide teachers too and assist with university entrance and finance and banking entrance exams.
I have been teaching for over 10 years as a private Maths Tutor for all years from nursery to year 13. My passion for the subject is very clear and my students laugh when I say, oh this is a 'nice' question!! I have had the privilege to guide students who have presented interesting challenges from either the disabilities they suffer (a wide array), the levels they need (teachers who need to guide others) to some very unusual exams for American universities and entrance tests for finance jobs. I teach all modules of maths and further maths and all boards too.
I have a very logical approach to teaching and have brought children to actually understand what they are doing and why they are doing it instead of just cramming formulae and methods. This approach has meant that my students have been very quickly able to tackle questions very advanced for their level due to application of logic and understanding. I am very patient and see what it is that is the stumbling block to the child's understanding. With new students I ensure that the foundation is correct as without that the rest is very hard to understand. Every student can achieve brilliant results with the right guidance.
