Personal Description:

Hi! My name is Angus and I'm currently undertaking graduate study at the University of Oxford in the field of Pharmacology within Biological Sciences. I studied my undergraduate at the University of Southampton in Biochemistry, and therefore have a strong background and knowledge of Biology and Chemistry.

I am extremely hardworking and motivated and like to set clear and obtainable goals, which allows me to excel and achieve excellent academic results - I am currently on a scholarship by the Medical Research Council and received awards for academic achievement through my undergraduate studies. I would love to extend my knowledge and passion for my subject area to students of all abilities!

Tutoring Experience:

Throughout my undergraduate study I taught a range of students of all abilities Biology and Chemistry, ranging in age from 14-18 (covering GCSE and A-Level). Of the students I taught I significantly raised their average predicted grade from the time I started tutoring them. Having moved to a new area I would love to continue where I left off, by helping more students reach their academic goals.

Tutoring Approach:

Being a younger tutor I like to be highly relatable and approachable at all time and believe it renders me more relatable to the experiences of students, which lends itself well to exam preparation and learning. I also believe it is this kind of ease of communication between student and tutor which allows me to understand core students needs - from what they find difficult and requires more work, to what they feel comfortable on. Making a student interested in the subject is a key obstacle to success, and fostering a genuine interest in subjects by explaining topics in new ways is an important part of my approach. Having taught students of all abilities, I value the importance of efficient communication - not all students receive information equally and via the same methods, and I account for this in my tutoring approach by using multiple teaching resources to adapt to multiple learning styles.
