LOCAL AND ONLINE TUTORING available. I work mainly from ages 5 to age 12 and specialise in English and Maths KS1/KS2 SATS and 11+ Exam preparation.

I have had much success over the past 8 years individually tutoring and 100% of my students have improved in their school work and grown in confidence.

I believe learning is all about the individuals journey and for them to feel confident and happy with what they learn.
By doing this it reduces anxiety and stress and is all in all a more positive experience for everybody.

About me:
I am currently working as a self employed tutor and have had previous experience working with children of all ages from 10 months old to 18 years. I am a 37 year old university graduate with a BA hons degree. I love working with children and enjoy teaching.

I currently tutor SATS KS1 and KS2 English and Maths, 11+, Functional Skills Entry Levels 1-3 English and Maths, English as a foreign language, confidence building, learning methods and exam techniques, speaking, listening and phonics.

Tutoring Experience

I have previously worked in a secondary school as a supply teacher and in a college for further education. Over the last eight years I have been private tutoring English and Maths for children between 5 and 16 and I really enjoy it. I also teach foreign students (children and adults) English. I have also been teaching drama groups within theatres and schools. This includes writing plays for Youth Theatre groups. Last summer I lead a Beauty Skills workshop for years 9, 10 and 11 in local high schools.

Tutoring Approach

I come from a family of professional teachers and teaching comes naturally to me. I believe one on one tutoring is the best way to ensure a child is learning and improving on the basics that is taught in schools. Classrooms can sometimes be overwhelming for children and reinforcing what they need to know in a calm and relaxed atmosphere can go along way in their development. After an assessment of a child, I then plan and prepare an individual learning plan, specifically driven to help with any weaknesses they may be experiencing and to develop their strengths. I also like to teach children how to learn so learning anything new in the future for that child is less daunting.
