English (Foreign Language)
I left full time teaching four years ago after twenty years' experience in Secondary schools to take up tutoring full time. I took early retirement from the teaching profession in order to tutor both one to one and in small groups. I did so in order to have more time to pursue other interests. I have a first in English (my special subject), a joint English and History BA(Hons) Degree (2.1) and I am qualified to teach both English Language and Literature up to A Level. I also have a CTEFLA. I am CRB checked and, of course, a qualified teacher having obtained a PGCE in English and Drama. I have taught across the age and ability range during my teaching years.
I have taught in a range of secondary schools in South West and Central London. I have been a form tutor, Head of EAL and a Deputy Head of English, and a Head of a large English Department. I last taught at a girls comprehensive in Wimbledon and I have twenty years experience in schools. I have tutored both privately and for various Boroughs in order to help excluded pupils and those with Special Needs. My speciality is GCSE and my results have been excellent throughout.
I have a wealth of teaching resources and I tailor my lessons according to the needs of each pupil. Having taught across the age and ability ranges, I have a great deal of experience in dealing with those students who have problems accessing the curriculum. I get on well with all my pupils and they enjoy my one to one lessons.
