This is how 2 referees rated Andrew:
I am a History Undergraduate currently in my third year at Glasgow University. I am incredibly passionate about my subject, a trait I am acutely aware of after years of family and friends putting up with my incredibly one sided conversations about all aspects of History! I like to consider myself an approachable, relaxed and talkative person. I love meeting new people who share my interest in History and I thoroughly enjoy teaching.
I received 11 GCSE's graded A*-A and 4 Levels graded A*-A including History. Currently I am on course for a First in Single Honours History and my goal is to continue my studies on to Postgraduate work.
In secondary school and sixth form I was involved in student teaching programs where I would help fellow classmates improve essay writing and critical analysis skills. Moreover, I took my A-level and GCSE exams only a few years ago and therefore thoroughly understand what examiners ask of students.
I teach History with a sincere passion and excitement for it; I understand that exams and essay writing can seem like a process of ticking boxes and can stifle a student's ability to really enjoy the subject. As such aim is to develop critical thinking and essay writing skills, but to also engage with a student and encourage them in their interests. Talking and engaging in debate is ultimately the best way to understand and enjoy a subject
I can explain things clearly and simply. I can provide critical analysis of a students work and provide examples of my own work if desired. I also provide help on assignments, such as help with planning or grammar checking. I can also help in taking concise, accurate notes for exam preparation and to use both past papers and various revision methods such as flashcards or mind-maps that help in retaining information.
My role is to facilitate a student's potential and help them in being prepared for their assignments and exams. Outside of classes I will always respond to an email as fast as I can. If you ever need help outside of a lesson or a piece of work to be analysed then don't hesitate to ask!
I look forward to hearing from you!
