Personal Description:

I've taught since Sep 2000 in four schools. I have always helped students to do their best and my examination groups have done well.
Since June 2009 I have been an examiner for GCSE History, Medicine Through Time with Edexcel.
I now advise Schools on their educational provision and on how to ensure young people achieve with the best possible grades.

Tutoring Experience:

In 1999 I graduated from the University of St. Andrews with an MA honours in History. My first post was in Eastbourne in a school where I taught History and worked as the Careers Co-ordinator. I also completed a Masters in Education in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion with the Open University.
I was Head of History in Dagenham, East London where I created an award winning scheme of learning which was awarded the Landmark Archives Award by the City of London Archive Service. I was also the Gifted & Talented co-ordinator and lead the teaching of Latin.
For five years I was a Head of Year in Enfield and taught History, Geography and English. I was then promoted to the post of Assistant Headteacher where my main job focused very much on pastoral matters, and ensuring that teachers were providing the best educational opportunities for the children in their classes. I was also involved in school discipline procedures including exclusions and I am therefore able to advise parents in such matters. I can also give lessons which focus on mentoring and study skills to help 'survive' school and get the best results for each individual.

Tutoring Approach:

Personalised, friendly and focussed on getting the best for the individual student. I seek to find a way to bring a topic to life and help students to find that lightbulb moment where a topic makes sense.
