Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Andrew. I am a recent graduate of the University of Aberdeen. I achieved a first class MA degree in Politics and International Relations. After this I completed my masters degree at the University of Bristol in Public Policy. I have recently returned to the UK after 4 months working in a public policy think tank in Budapest, Hungary.

Tutoring Experience:

1. Classroom assistant at Braeside Primary School, 2009.
2. Assistant in a 1st year music class at Hazlehead Academy. As I am an experienced guitar player, I was able to give practical tuition to the children, as well as supporting their studies.
3. English teacher at Echo Summer Camp, Baia Mare, Romania. For two weeks I worked with children aged between 8 and 14 in developing their English skills. I was the single teacher in this class, and all preparation of daily classes was arranged by myself.
4. I tutored in A-level English Language and Literature between October 2016 and April 2017. The work covered during this period included The Great Gatsby, A Streetcar Named Desire and the poetry of John Donne.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is based on the importance of patience. I feel it is essential to slowly build up the key foundations of a topic, and once this is certain it is easy to add the details. In addressing key themes, I will build understanding upon clear, easy to grasp examples which clearly explain more tricky theoretical concepts. I ensure that learning is enjoyable, and ensure that my lessons are creative and varied in their style.
