Tutoring Experience

Two years full time teaching in a school in N London. Some integrated science but mostly in examination classes for pupils aged 14-18. Successively tutored an Oxbridge candidate whilst in a school context. Some tutoring at University of organic chemistry - Southampton Univ - whilst a post doctoral employee.
Have supported over 15 undergraduate students on industrial placements which required setting practical projects relating to drug discovery.
Currently a visiting lecturer at the Univ of Herts
Experienced science tutor across AQA, Edexcel, OCR and iGCSE specifications

Tutoring Approach

Enthusiastic about science and understanding of the challenge that tutees have in visualising the concepts that underpin chemistry. Will seek alternative approaches as I have done in many years at a senior manager within the Pharma industry.
For exam tuition I will use past papers and identified areas of concern from the tutee to direct my approach.
I tend to use analogies as far as possible to illustrate scientific concepts.
Comfortable with Skype so can send materials ahead of lesson and work through these at time of the tuition.
