Hello, I am a mum of two teenagers. I live and work in Newton Le Willows. When I am not teaching maths I like to spend time with my family or cycling with my friends for a bit of fun and to stay healthy. I am also a pretty good baker of bread and cakes, It's therapeutic stuff and everyone loves cakes! I am friendly, patient and above all like to put a bit of fun into teaching. I am CRB checked and up to date. As regards qualifications, I am happy to provide documents on first appointment. I don't have a scanner but will try to do this soon at the library. Hope you understand. Looking forward to working with you soon. Thanks for reading my profile.
I have been teaching Maths at secondary schools since 2004. My specialism is working in small groups with children to maximise their potential in Mathematics. I mainly work with Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 3 pupils within a classroom setting and sometimes withdraw groups to work outside the main classroom . I also tutor 1 to 1 with pupils during lunch and after school. The National Curriculum is forever changing and working within a school environment keeps me up to speed with the changes in my subject area. I am familiar with exam boards Edexcel and AQA and can access other exam board resources. As intervention manager in my previous school I was responsible for delivering Maths and English tailored lessons to KS4 pupils to help those pupils through their GCSE's. Now I specialise more in maths but I am happy to tutor English from SATS up to key stage 3 (Year 9).
I take an holistic approach to teaching, that is I look at the person's strengths and draw on these to build confidence and overcome barriers for learning. I assess each pupil to find the gaps to learning and draw up a plan of action for future lessons. I will provide resources including exam practice papers and software for teaching purposes. I will guide you through the most effective resource materials that you can access on line.
