I have been a secondary school teacher for twenty years. I have taught in a wide variety of schools and all of the examboards. I currently teach Edexcel Examboards for GCSE and A level but have also recently taught OCR. I have experience teaching all of the examboards at GCSE. I also have taught the IB to higher level.

Tutoring Experience

I am a successful secondary History and Politics teacher. I am adaptable and have designed a lower school Classics curriculum. I enjoy teaching all aspects of History but particularly Russian history. I have taught the Wars of the Roses, the Tudors, Napoleon, Germany from 1939 to 1991 and the British Experience of Warfare at A level for both OCR and Edexcel. I currently teach Richard and John, Superpower relations, Russia and Crime and Punishment for GCSE but have also taught Weimar and Nazi Germany, Cold War and the Inter War years as well as China at GCSE.

For Politics I teach the whole course and the USA for paper three. Happy to help anyone who is struggling with how to make Politics a manageable A level subject.

For IB I have taught China, the USA and Russia.

Tutoring Approach

It is so important to find out the strengths of the student and build confidence. I like to help students develop the skills to tackle any challenge head on. Reading and a curious mind is essential for both History and Politics but, spending time building towards these help to develop a confident student.
Students achieve their potential when they understand what the criteria are.
