I am a lively, positive person with many varied interests such as travel, film and theatre. I have two grown up children who have both left home. Before I became a teacher I was an Air Stewardess with British Airways for ten years during which time I traveled all over the world. I had many exciting experiences! I read a lot of course as I am an English teacher and I also write books and poetry.
*I NOW HAVE ALTERNATE TUESDAY ATERNOONS AVAILABLE FROM 4-5 PM AND SOME AVAILABILITY IN THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS.
I have been a teacher for 27 years (ten years unqualified and seventeen qualified)and in that time have taught in mainstream and special educational schools as well as helping students in their own homes. I specialise in English Language and English Literature but have also taught Media Studies to GCSE level. I have taught all age ranges and have done a considerable amount of home tuition/preparation for exams. I have also prepared primary children for SATS as well as running booster classes for GCSE students. I have a varied and comprehensive stock of resources and many online resources too.
My approach to tutoring is always student led as I discuss each student's individual needs and concerns prior to putting together programmes of study. I take into account the student's preferred approach, visual, auditory or kinaesthetic. I give regular feedback and guidance together with accurate indications of progress. I structure tutoring sessions so that the student feels comfortable with the pace and content. I will always adapt any aspect of a tutoring session at the students request.
