I have always been passionate about music and the arts, beginning my musical training aged 6. Initially learning cello, and then subsequently piano, I was given a place at St Mary's Music School, Edinburgh at the age of 11 where I studied for 7 years with some of Britain's best teachers. While there I was a member of the National Children's Orchestras of Scotland and Great Britain, Edinburgh Youth Orchestra, Scottish Opera's Connect Company and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland which included performing at the BBC Proms 2012. I was also Head Girl in my final year, as well as leading the cello section of the school orchestra and senior string ensemble. I am now studying music at King's College London in conjunction with the Royal Academy of Music, where I get cello lessons with the world renowned Guy Johnston. I am continuing to play in a variety of orchestras throughout the capital, including principal cello in KCLSO.
In my spare time I work as an usher at St John's Smith Square and enjoy baking, reading and running.
Despite my young age, I have had quite a lot of teaching experience. I taught piano privately while at school in Edinburgh for 2 years. I was also a teaching assistant at St Mary's Music School's Saturday morning classes in Kodaly, cello and recorder classes for four years. Finally, being at a boarding school I was often found to be tutoring some of the younger pupils in any of their school work that they needed help with.
My aim when teaching is always to be as productive as I can while maintaining a fun atmosphere.
