Personal Description:

Hello, Art Historians! I have a 1st class degree from Cambridge, where I am now studying for my PhD, and I have an MA (with distinction) from the Courtauld Institute of Art. I study History of Art and have a particular passion for the art of the Middle Ages.

I aim to be the kind of teacher you can turn to for stimulating (and enjoyable!) intellectual discussion as well as disciplined advice for exams and assignments. My approach is informed by that of the world-class academics with whom I have had the privilege of working.

Tutoring Experience:

As well as tutoring, I have been teaching in university and giving public lectures for over five years. I have also published academic work designed to inform undergraduates and enthusiasts. For several years, I have favoured online tuition, which allows for enormous flexibility and efficiency.

Tutoring Approach:

If you become my Tutee, I will be available via email all day, every day and am happy to answer questions, read writing samples and offer advice gratis, outside the hour for which I charge. Sometimes, you might prefer me to proof read an essay rather than have a face-to-face chat. This I am also always happy to do for a slightly reduced fee.

More generally, I believe the most important thing is to make a student excited about their subject. Once this has been achieved, the willingness will be there to work through the nitty gritty aspects of working for exams, such as Assessment Objectives and essay structure.

I always make a great effort to understand what engages a student and will then colour what they are learning to suit their interests.

I believe it is my job to work hard to find what will inspire a student and use my imagination and skills to present the subject matter accordingly.
