I am a current Primary School teacher in an Additional Support Needs school. I have always had a passion for children's work, focussed on teaching and have spent much time around children of differing ages and in different contexts.
Prior to entering into primary education, I studied French and Geography to degree level. This gave me the opportunity to spend time teaching English in Canada, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also love travelling and in my personal life I have been exposed to many different cultures from around the world. This has helped me to become an understanding person.
I am currently in my fifth year full time teaching as a Primary School Teacher. I have more experience with upper primary, however, I have worked with all ages. Prior to teaching full time, I was a tutor of primary maths and English (school entrance prep) as well as Higher Geography in Aberdeen during my time at University. I have tutored one on one and developed and ran a two day intensive Higher Geography exam revision course.
I have a particular interest in special education and have experience working with children who have additional support needs including, autism, dyslexia and down's syndrome.
I would like to think that I am a very nurturing teacher who tries to meet the needs of every child within my care and I aim to transfer this into my tutoring. I take an organised and professional approach to all aspects of my career and would be likewise in a tutoring capacity.
One of the main things that inspired me to become a teacher was pivotal role that they can play in a young person's life. I love teaching and an extra opportunity to work with people on a one to one basis would allow me to continue to develop my skill set as well as help those who perhaps struggle with a certain aspect of their learning.
