My name is Amber and I offer tutoring services in English, Religious Studies and Theatre Studies, with a focus on GCSE and A Level.
I have been working as a private tutor for the past three years, supporting students through SATs, GCSEs, and A Levels. Prior to this, I worked as a part-time tutor for English and Maths at a local centre.
I have achieved excellent grades across my academic life: 9 'A*' and 3 'A' grades at GCSE; 'A' grades in all subjects at AS; A A* A* at A Level.
I scored 100% in several pieces of English and Theatre Studies coursework, 100% in the final exams for English AS and A2, and 100% in Ethics AS. I was asked for permission for my exam papers to be used for tuition at my old school.
Currently, I am taking a break from education to work, but am considering pursuing higher education at some point. As such, my hours are very flexible.
Working as a private tutor, I have also gained experience tutoring GCSE and AS/A2 level students studying for a variety of exam boards, including the new 1-9 specifications, which I am currently teaching to several students.
At the tutoring centre, I gained experience teaching children the National Curriculum from Reception to KS3. This has given me an understanding of effective teaching methods across a range of ages and abilities.
Additionally, I officially peer mentored students at the Hemel Hempstead School, as well as unofficially peer mentoring and tutoring several of my classmates in the run up to A Levels in 2013- particularly in English and RS.
As a comparatively recent school leaver, I have a very empathic approach to tutoring, as I understand the stresses and pressures of coursework and exams. Equally, I have contemporary knowledge and experience of how the curriculum works for each of my subjects.
Having worked with children of varied abilities (including those with dyslexia and other learning difficulties) and receiving tutoring in French and Maths myself during my GCSE exams, I understand the kind of barriers and difficulties students can face whilst learning. My aim is to provide a student-lead tutoring experience, tailoring my approach to suit their needs and learning style.
