This is how 2 referees rated Amber:
I am currently in the first year of my PhD, my project is biochemistry based but very wide ranging covering whole animal physiology across to proteomics. At undergraduate level I studied Medical Biochemistry including a study abroad year at the University of Western Australia.
I have a range of experiences that have built on my teaching skills. Most recently over the summer I worked as a teaching assistant in the lab prior to starting my PhD, this was a 1 to 1 teaching environment where I guided an undergraduate student through a mini project, including both practical lab skills and theory based teaching. Previously I have been a peer mentor during my own undergraduate degree and before starting university I taught myself Chemistry and Biology A-levels during a gap year which I think gives me a fairly unique insight into the material.
I have a methodical approach to teaching, I like to lay out all the information into manageable sections and then build them together into a coherent story. I feel this gives a good appreciation of the material as a whole but makes it more accessible in smaller steps.
