Personal Description:

My name is Amandine. I am French and I have been living in Scotland since march 2003, ever since I meet my husband, who I married in 2008. In October 2009, we've had our first child, a lovely little girl. We also had a lovely little boy in 2013. We live in the countryside, in the north of Aberdeen, with our Clumber Spaniel, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been lecturing at NESCOL since 2009, in Maths and Computing. I really enjoy it and find teaching an extremely rewarding experience.

I have been teaching Mathematics from basic numeracy level to advanced higher level.

Although I haven't been teaching French yet, it is my mother tongue. I am proficient at providing the proper use of french, as well as accurate advice on the common and more popular uses of the french language.

I have a 1st class honours degree in Business Computing. I have been teaching the basics of IT (ECDL and Microsoft Office packages) for people new to computers, but my level of education allows me to teach more advanced computing subjects such as databases, genetic algorithm, case based reasoning and programming.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very much tutee lead. I like to take time to identify the learning styles of my students and discover their interests. This allows me to tailor my lessons towards examples more appropriate and relevant to my tutees. My technique is to support and lead my students to understand and discover the answers by themselves. I refuse to "do it for them". I will build steps of understanding to gently lead the student to the answer, insuring that the thinking process the student has to go through will leave its marks and make it easier for the student in the future.
