Personal Description:

My personal interest are related to my teaching interests - spending time with my family, travel and exploration, the environment and the countryside, history and learning. I have spent a great deal of time travelling and have been to Europe, Africa on several occasions, toured parts of Asia and I lived in Australia for a year.

In all aspects of my life I am a dedicated, organised and hardworking individual with a passion for learning and inspiring the best of others. I feel it is a privilege for me to be able to help children and young people meet their potential and to prepare them for employment.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently a College Lecturer and I previously have been a secondary school teacher, and I have been teaching for 7 years. I have a excellent academic education in Geography the environment conservation and land management and extensive vocational experience in Early Years Educator training

Over the last few years I have undertaken tutoring with GCSE and A-Level student and have successfully helped them prepare for examinations and achieve grades required for university.

In addition I am an exam marker for GCSE and A Level Geography.

Tutoring Approach:

As I have spent a long time working with children I find that I am able to develop a good rapport with children quickly and that my caring and consistent approach enables children to feel confident and to be able to work well to deadlines, and complete work to the best of their potential.

I shape each session to meet the needs of the learner, from explaining geographical aspects to advising on exam technique, each session meets the needs and requirements of the learner using and building upon strengths to develop areas for improvement.

My aim is to understand and work with each student in a way that suits them the best. I adapt learning styles and techniques to help support the learner’s needs, shaping learning tasks to make them interesting and informative.
I have had a good deal of experience with helping students achieve good results from a difficult starting position and I have helped many apply focus and drive to achieve what has been required in short periods of time.

I am flexible and can support students in pairs or small groups to help spread the cost of additional tuition. Please contact me to discuss your needs.

I am able to teach students at my home in Woodbury and for these sessions I can offer the most flexibility, weekday evenings and weekend slots upon request. I am also able to offer these same time slots for skype/face time sessions.

I am able to travel to the students home for those living in the Exeter, Exmouth, Sidmouth area. Currently I can accommodate sessions in the tutees home on weekday evening and and first thing on a Saturday and Sunday.

I am happy to be flexible with booking arrangements - these could be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or ad hoc when needed. I can also be flexible with the length of sessions from 1 hour to 1.5 hours to 2 hour sessions.
