Personal Description:

I'm a full-time tutor, I don't have another job so I'm never going to be worrying about what I have to do tomorrow, or whether I've finished my marking etc. Unfortunately, there is no box for "former teacher" and I'm definitely not old enough to be retired!!!!!!!!
I didn't do particularly well at school and didn't particularly like it!!
When my daughter went to school I decided to go back to college and study Engineering, I started my degree the month after I turned 30 and qualified as a teacher in 2008.
I specialise in STEM subjects but for home educated students I can offer a more rounded curriculum, if required.
I like to listen to music and go to gigs as often as I can. I'm quite creative and I make cards and gifts for friends and family and for a charity.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 7 years experience teaching in both Secondary Schools and FE Colleges, teaching Design Technology, Maths, EAL Engineering, BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering, HNC Engineering for Toyota and Functional Skills in Maths and English, I also have experience with teaching autistic and dyslexic students.
This is my second scholastic year as a tutor and most of my Yr 11's last year added 2 levels to their predicted grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that education should be for everyone and nothing should be a barrier to learning.
I'm pretty easy going and work as much on building your confidence as I do on subject knowledge. For older students I have an online portal that assesses your working level and shows me the gaps in your knowledge, for younger students I start at the beginning of your key stage filling in gaps and building confidence as we move forward.
I provide a free initial consultation where I will come to your house and discuss the students needs and to see if we get on, there's nothing worse than spending an hour in the company of someone you don't much like!!
