Information About Alison - Edinburgh tutor - (5 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Alison:
I am a postdoctoral research fellow working on an infantile form of Motor Neuron Disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. I graduated with a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Aberdeen in November 2017, an MSc in Human Anatomy with Distinction from Edinburgh University in 2013, and with a 2:1 in BSc(hons) Sport and Exercise Science from Heriot Watt University in 2012.
Having spent my school career being tutored in Biology, I understand the huge impact that extra help can make on a student's understanding of the subject.
I am fairly flexible with my teaching hours, and am happy to travel to the tutee's house if it is within a reasonable travelling distance, however I am just as happy to have the tutee come to my home or provide **Contact Detail Removed** tutorials.
I have been tutoring a mixture of National 5 Biology, Chemistry and Maths, as well as Higher Biology for the past 4 years, therefore I am up to date with all aspects of these courses, and have a large volume of teaching aids and materials.
I previously demonstrated anatomy and physiology to undergraduate students on a regular basis, and have worked as a sports coach with 3 - 14 y/olds.
I have also spent time working in the classroom with primary school children.
I accommodate whichever style of learning the tutee is most comfortable with, and aim to pass on my passion for science and maths in a challenging and engaging environment.
I provide an online interactive whiteboard where I post homework every week, and students are free to post questions on there and use it as their own personal revision space.
Please note that I am unable to offer GCSE and A-Level tutoring; only National 3-5 and Higher. Furthermore, tutoring prices may vary depending on whether the tutee travels to me, or how far I am required to travel to get to you.
