Now available for tutoring at home and online tuition using Facetime or Skype during the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am a mother of two children, whose needs I have always put first. I have always tried to balance my career, firstly as a health professional and latterly as a teacher, with the demands of family life. I have been teaching over a period of 15 years. I have taught in Colleges of Further Education and Secondary Schools & hold QTS. I strive to attain the best for each and every student and listen carefully to what they have to say, giving support and encouragement to help them achieve their goals. I make sure I keep up to date with the ever changing curriculums in Mathematics & Science, achieved through working in local schools. As a person, I’m very practical. I love gardening and nature, cooking and eating. I’m good at DIY and will tackle any task except the electrics; I leave that to qualified electricians. It’s just great to get your hands dirty.

Tutoring Experience

For about fourteen years now, I have tutored students the sciences in two years running up to their exams. I individually plan the tuition to suit each child's needs. I hold QTS & an Enhanced DBS, on the update service. have detailed knowledge of a variety of GCSE examination boards specifications in Mathematics & the three Sciences. I focus on exam techniques through interpreting what information the questions are asking for, as being the key to passing exams, together with establishing a solid understanding of the theory and its application.

Tutoring Approach

I have a very adaptable and flexible approach to every student and alter my approach to maximise understanding using demonstrations, hands on experimentation and examples from our surroundings. This ensures the needs of each student are specific for them and their learning styles and interests, wherever possible within the confines of the curriculum. Each student will be carefully monitored and stretched by setting achievable goals. Feedback will be constructive, and motivation and encouragement will be key to success
