I've just finished my Oxford undergraduate degree in Latin and French and am now starting a Masters in Classics and Ancient History at Birmingham University. I've tutored both Latin and French during my time at university and school, and I hope to take up a career in teaching after my postgraduate studies.
I have mentored sixth-form students at Wadham College Classics Summer School (University of Oxford), which aims to encourage state school students to apply to Oxford and Cambridge. In addition, I have mentored GCSE students in both Latin and French. At university I taught Latin once a week at a local primary school as part of the Iris Project's Literacy through Latin scheme, which involved planning exciting and age-appropriate lessons. I have also coached novice rowing to young people, being a keen rower myself.
I am very keen to have interactive lessons, with the tutee feeling free to ask as many questions as they wish. Each lesson will begin with objectives so the tutee is clear on what we will cover. If students have a particular area they would like to improve, I will focus my lessons on this aspect. If they do not, we will work through the course syllabus set by the exam board for GCSE/A Level and spend more time on areas with which they have difficulty.
