Personal Description:

I am a recent graduate from the Univeristy of Cambridge in Music with a 2:1, and have recently moved to London to continue my career in music. My musical ventures outside of teaching include being interim Director of Music at St Mary Magdalene, Richmond, where I play the organ and direct the choir. I also play piano to a high standard, DJ for colleges, clubs and parties, write and produce music for clients and for my own projects, with occasional live sound engineering. I also have interests in football, games, films and TV, and am quite relaxed and easy-going, with a strong determination to be a high-achiever.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a regular tutor for **Removed By Admin** First Tutors **Removed By Admin**, teaching in 11+ to GCSE maths and all levels of music, from practical (piano and organ), to theory, as well as academic. I am currently Interim Director of Music for St Mary Magdalene, Richmond. Additionally, I have held the position of Director of Music at St Mary`s Church, Whitchurch in Cardiff, as well as Organ Scholar of Queens` College, and in both roles there were elements of teaching people of all ages music at sight, as well as teaching them a deeper appreciation of music in general. I have also been a teacher as part of the Cambridge Audio School, which is a school dedicated to teaching students in various areas of music.

Tutoring Approach:

A big part of tutoring, I believe, is to let the tutee think for themselves. Too much curricular teaching focuses on following a rigid syllabus, which can only really teach a student the core skills required. However, to achieve high results, a level of independent thought is necessary, and I would allow the student to develop their own understanding of subjects, as opposed to a thought process that has been drilled into them. Additionally, showing tutees material outside the syllabus helps to improve their knowledge.
