I'm a graduate of Durham University, where I studied English Literature and gained a 2.1. In addition to English Lit, I am involved in songwriting and music production. Currently, I am studying for an MA in Sound Production at Bath Spa University.
In 2018, I began tutoring English Literature and have since had several tutees. They have been studying at AS, A2, and degree level.
I have coached at Cobham Fencing Club, supporting foilists at the British Youth Championships and other tournaments.
I have previously learned from great teachers, such as fencing coach Ziemek Wojciechowski. From Ziemek, I learned that training should, sooner or later, replicate the conditions of competition, and not be so challenging as to be stalling, nor so straightforward that focus is lost.
Similarly, as a tutor, my approach is geared towards developing the primary skills for planning and writing under timed conditions.
My style of teaching is very much developing the skills for tackling tough questions and structuring responses. This can be broken down into the following: getting to grips with the question itself; identifying key areas of discussion that arise from the text in relation to the question; forming clear, nuanced, and well-supported paragraphs based on these discussion points.
A strength of mine is communicating key ideas in a way that allows students to adopt the best approach to their exams and essays.
