I have recently completed an MA in Playwriting at the University of Lincoln with plans to go into lecturing and a PhD after graduation. During my studies, I undertook a number of specialisms including Script Writing, Improvising and Devising, British Theatre as Industry, Directing and Restoration to Melodrama. Following graduation, I began working for Lincoln School of Speech and Drama as a Tutor in Drama.
In addition to this, as part of my undergraduate degree, I spent a semester studying Teaching Drama, during which time I developed my skills and built a firm foundation of knowledge on how to effectively teach not only drama, but also other subjects such as English.
I have also run my own theatre company, Conceptual Arts Theatre Company Ltd, which specialises in supporting new writers and performers across Lincolnshire. As part of this, I compose my own musical scores and work with musicians to create appropriate musical accompaniments for their productions.
I am currently working as a supply teacher across schools in Lincolnshire, specialising in Drama but covering a wide range of subjects across the curriculum. Working across various schools has given me a wealth of experience of different teaching styles dependent of the students circumstances. Over the past year I have also worked as an exam marker for OCR's GCSE written papers.
Throughout my academic career, I have accrued significant experience in both the theoretical and practical aspects of drama and through my theatre company, have worked with groups and individuals of varying abilities and skills. Also as part of my undergraduate degree, I undertook specialisms in teaching and theatre in education, working with children of varying age groups and skill levels.
I have a relaxed, informal yet motivational tutoring style.
In an initial session, I will aim to gauge the most suitable learning style for each individual student. Following this first meeting, I shall then aim to work specifically towards their requirements and follow any particular syllabus or topics they need assistance with.
