Alexander

I am a professional actor and writer, with previous work having won the BFI London Film Festival 2021 and featuring on BBC 2. In addition I work freelance for a number of Art Magazines and as a tutor.

I studied History of Art & Visual Culture at the University of Exeter, before moving on to study a Masters in Professional Acting at Rose Bruford.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked extensively as a tutor over the past number of years, tutoring a range of subjects from Maths and History of Art, through to Drama School and LAMDA exam prep. Whilst in recent years I have gravitated largely to online classes, I have taught private tutees in hired spaces and holiday revision seminars.

Tutoring Approach

In 2019 The Arts Council published a report highlighting the importance of creativity within education. Culture and creativity permeate every aspect of our education and our lives but that very ubiquity means it is difficult to articulate the value of creativity.

I believe that creativity can inspire, a necessity for the tutor and tutee relationship. Students spend on average over 1200 hours at school, whilst many spend a further 100's more studying each year. As a tutor I cannot out-teach such a volume. I can, however, help guide the student so that this time is not only more affective, but also driven from a desire to learn rather than because they must. Inspiring through creative learning fuels this change, amplifying the few hours spent each week with me across those 100's per year.
