This is how 2 referees rated Alexander:
I am an adviser in the UK parliament and I graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master`s Degree in Chemistry (MChem) in 2016.
I have tutored economics, chemistry, maths and entrance examinations for 4 years at various levels with excellent feedback and results.
I am a very down to earth person with a broad set of interests, including woodworking, writing music (clarinet), science, politics, art and more.
For me, tutoring is not a job to get by, it is a passion. I have tutored a variety of children at all levels since January 2013 and it has always been a very enjoyable and fulfilling thing to do. I am just as pumped up as my tutees at the beginning of each lesson, determined to finish not when the hour is up, but only when they have had that `click` moment so understanding the subject being taught.
I am also very happy to give advice on university admissions, entrance exams, work experience, internships, mock interviews and more.
As an employee in the UK parliament, I have had a criminal background check and an anti-terrorism check.
I have been tutoring for over 4 years and I have taught a very wide variety of students in age, capability and work ethic.
I always ensure to develop a good working relationship with my tutees, so that they are comfortable asking questions and challenging me, where appropriate. Additionally, I always make sure to push my tutees at the appropriate level to help them improve their work ethic and understand the rewards of hard work.
I have always had very positive feedback from the tutees and their parents. Examples of such are below:
"Alex is professional, polite and incredibly accommodating. He has been happy to prepare a tutorial on any topic within the wider syllabus at short notice." (tutored economics and chemistry)
"Alex was great and helped my son get an A* in maths and an A in economics when the school predicted B and C." (tutored economics, maths and chemistry)
"I would highly recommend Alex as a tutor. He has enormously helped my 16 year old son with his economics. He is always flexible to fit us in and work around our busy schedule." (tutored economics)
Tutoring requires patience and a set of realistic objectives to achieve in every tutorial. As a tutor, I will lead by example and practice to ensure the student is familiar with questions, and is properly prepared to combat any question which may arise in an exam.
I have a very professional approach to teaching students and I focus on ensuring motivation and the key techniques required for problem solving and completing examinations. I set work for each tutee to complete each week and I not only mark it, but often provide solutions to the problems. In addition to this, I prepare notes and revision guidelines for students and offer my direct contact details, so that if questions arise between meetings they can be solved quickly without delay.
