I have recently graduated BSc Human Biology, and have started my MSc Molecular Genetics & Diagnostics degree. I have high aspirations to continue my educational studies in the field of Clinical Genetics by studying for a PhD or through the NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP). I am an enthusiastic and conscientious individual that is always seeking to go the extra mile throughout my studies from GCSE's to A-levels to University by going beyond the curriculum. I am very personable and can relate to many of my tutees going through high pressured exams.
During the commencement of my second year as an Undergraduate, I started weekly tutoring sessions for 1st year Biology students. I had 5-8 people who attended the session weekly, where as a group we discussed the areas of misunderstanding and then worked to their individual needs where necessary. After this experience, I began tutoring officially since January 2017 and have since tutored 12 people, all of whom were undertaking either GCSEs/ A-levels.
In order to provide effective tutoring, I would firstly discuss the individual's predicted grades and to understand their concerns (if any). Following this, I would devise a tutoring plan that would encompass both goals and motivation that the individual can strive towards. I would therefore provide extra work to take away for further study; this will facilitate their understanding of the topic to their best ability. This would also be aided by the use of past exam questions in order to help the individual gain maximum marks. Each new tutoring session will begin of a recap from the past week, to ensure that the individual has fully understood what they have been taught.
