Personal Description:

I'm Alex, a fifth year medical student at the University of Cambridge. In 2017, I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Biological and Biomedical Science. I studied 4 A-Levels at The Perse School (Maths, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry), achieving an average of 98%, with 100% in Maths and Chemistry. I also achieved an A at AS-Level Physics with 100%. I studied 10 IGCSEs at The Perse, achieving 10A*s. In addition to offering tutoring in science subjects, I can also offer tutoring or guidance in medical school application and entrance examinations. I achieved a 7.1/8.3/4A in the BMAT, and 3250 in the UKCAT. I am a Cambridge local, and have lived here for 21 years.

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored students of various ages, including:

- Year 6 students at Jeavons Wood primary school in Eastbourne, Cambridge
- A year 7 class at the Perse School
- Various lunchtime 'surgeries' at the Perse School, teaching GCSE and A-Level maths and Science to students on a 1-on-1 basis

As a 21-year-old, I have recent experience of sitting A-Levels, and applying to University, and will be able to teach in a way that is well tailored to a specific age group.

Tutoring Approach:

Before meeting a potential student, I will gather information on their curriculum, their goals for our sessions and their current level of knowledge. During a first meeting, establishing which areas a student feels confident in, and areas which a student requires more help is essential. I will take a student-centred approach, adapting to their best learning style. It will broadly be based on active learning, followed by recall and past-paper testing, to ensure we are kept up to date on progress and level of knowledge. I understand that examinations are extremely stressful periods for students, and will be there to offer help and reassurance. Please contact me if you have any questions!
