Personal Description:

I am a friendly and professional third year medical student at Imperial college London. I have over 1000 hours tutoring experience.

Academic Record

I achieved a distinction in my studies of medicine last year for coming in the top 10% across all my exams. The year before I came in the top 15%.

I received three offers for medicine from Imperial, UCL and St Barts. I am about to start my second year of medicine at imperial college. I have an excellent academic record with starting with 10 A-stars in my GCSE`s. I achieved I gained two A-stars in biology (scored 294UMS/300 in A2 with full marks in the A2 papers) and chemistry and two As in maths (555UMS/600) and economics at A-level (552UMS/600)… I have also achieve an A (highest grade possible) in Additional Maths. In my first year of university I gained an average percentage score of 85%.

Extra-curricular Academic Record
I won the silver award at the British Biology Olympiad and in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge. I have received the Headmasters commendation and awards for academic endeavour every year for the past four. I also scored an exceptionally high score of 105 in the Intermediate Maths Challenge which meant I achieved a gold certificate (one of three I achieved and allowed me to progress to the next round the Hamilton Olympiad.

However, being a prospective medical student my strongest area of study is definitely biology. I take a particular interest in the nervous system (neurones, synapses, poisons etc.) and would be keen to pass this information (which i gained from reading a 500 page textbook) on to any keen interested student.

I also scored high scores in both the BMAT and UKCAT aptitude tests and am available for tutoring and consultation in either of these. Having been through the medical school application and interview process recently I am able to consult on both applying (different unis, different courses, different requirements, how they weight different aspects of a prospective student) to medical school and medical school interviews.

Tutoring Style
I am a patient tutor and also one that is very understanding of the stress and difficulties in studying for exams and obtaining a university place.

I aim to provide a service which will allow a pupil to develop a full and wide breadth of understanding in a subject. Off-syllabus information is especially useful in writing personal statements and at university interviews. In addition by providing the student with extra information it helps them to realise how interested they are in a certain subject and if they would like to go on to study it at university.

I focus on exam technique. During my studies at school and preparation for exams I noticed -especially in the case of the sciences- that an in-depth understanding of specific subject mark schemes was required to achieve the top grades. Nowadays exam boards are very picky and specific about the wording required in an answer (science exams). Since subject specifications in the sciences are fairly limited, certain questions almost always come up.

Also available for consultation on medical school choices, applications and interviews.

Tutoring Experience:

I started tutoring 2 years ago and over that time have tutored over 30 clients. I also have experience teaching children and adults with moderate to severe epilepsy at the Young Epilepsy centre in Lingfield.

I run a course with another medical student from Leeds that gives students the tools to excel in the med school interview.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide a service which will allow a pupil to develop a full and wide breadth of understanding in a subject. I'm able to do this as I have studied around all my A-level subjects. Off-syllabus information is especially useful in writing your personal statement and university interviews. By providing the student with extra information it helps them to realise how interested they are in a certain subject and if they would like to go on to study it at university.
