Personal Description:

TUTEES ACHIEVE RESULTS FAST.
As the premier super tutor in York, I work with families where only the best education will do. Called upon by high-end clients to ensure their children hit the grade for Oxbridge and entrance exams I consider my job to have been done successfully if my tutees only need me for a few weeks or months. Of course I also have students who I work with regularly, these are often average attaining students, with parents who value an outstanding education. They have aspirations of becoming doctors or attending Oxbridge, but have not seen significant improvements with their current tutor. I make a huge difference to confidence and grades. It is possible for anyone to succeed with the right tutor.

TOP GRADES:
A top maths brain is not the only requirement to be an outstanding tutor, and I am regularly called in to help students who have had a poor tutor for years and not seen any significant gains. Successful tutoring requires a deep understanding of the curriculum, knowledge of how to instil confidence, and mastery of how students learn. Getting top grades is possible give dedication, commitment and the knowledge of how to get there.

DYNAMIC
I am a dynamic teacher, with a wealth of experience, who knows how to get the best out of students. I make sessions fun. I am no ordinary tutor.

RESULTS 2018:
My results are top-notch. 2018 was no exception and I am delighted to announce this years statistics:
*A-LEVEL: 100% achieved Grade A or A*.
*IGCSE/GCSE: 100% improved by at least 3 grades.
*SATS: 100% Pass.
*Entrance exam: 100% Pass.
*QTS Skills numeracy: 100% Pass.
I want to congratulate every one of my students.

EXAM TECHNIQUE:
I know exactly what examiners are looking for. A thorough knowledge of past mark schemes is essential when teaching students how to answer difficult questions. It also makes it possible to make good predictions on what topics will appear in your exam. With the changes in exam structure, particularly at IGCSE and A-LEVEL over the past few years, this knowledge sets me apart from most other teachers.

PREMIER TUTOR:
If you are looking for a premier tutor who goes the extra mile to ensure you achieve your full potential, look no further. My references speak for themselves.

GROUP TUTORING SESSIONS:
Due to high demand, I have introduced more of my very popular small group tutoring sessions from September 2018. These are structured hourly sessions, with a maximum of 6 students, designed specifically to maximise outcomes for students who prefer small groups over one-to-one teaching. These have proved to improve grades dramatically, and are a fraction of the cost of one-to-one sessions. These are always highly reviewed. Contact me for further information and availability.

HOME-SCHOOL:
I also provide a very successful Home-School tutoring service during the day time, where I can travel to you at additional cost if necessary.

Tutoring Experience:

FULLY QUALIFIED MATHEMATICS TEACHER
I have a Masters Degree (Leeds University), Bachelors Degree (Newcastle University), PGCE (Leeds University), Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and DBS/CRB certificate.

OVER 13 YEARS EXPERIENCE
I have taught in top schools, notably Bingley Grammar School - where I was Lead Professional in the department - and most recently Fulford School in York. Most of my tutees are recommendations.

EXPERT IN:
*A-level *IGCSE *GCSE. *Year 6 SATS. *Home Schooling. *Re-sits. *Adult learning *PGCE Numeracy Skills.

Tutoring Approach:

HOW DOES ONE-TO-ONE TUTORING WORK:
I tutor in 30 or 60 minute sessions. I will begin by assessing your current standard, taking into account your current and predicted grades, and over the first few sessions I will develop a plan of action specific to you. I have a waiting list for these sessions, with limited availability.

HOW DO GROUP SESSIONS WORK:
These are half termly sessions focussed on specific areas of learning. They are differentiated and designed to ensure all students maximise progress, whilst filling gaps in their personal learning. These are significantly cheaper than one-to-one. Contact me for exact cost for your level of study. New slots have been opened from September 2018.

WHERE DO YOU WORK?
I usually work from a section of my home near Dunnington. Parents are welcome to drop and pick up, sit with us, or watch us working from the drive. There is ample parking available. My students usually work with the iPad Pro and Apple pencil. There is no requirement for you to have these, I provide them during the sessions, and some students prefer to use their own.

Feel free to contact me for further information or to book your first session.
