Information About Alexander - Bristol tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Alexander:
I am a 25 year old Archaeology and Anthropology student at the University of Bristol, with a wide range of specialities from classical civilisation to mythology to evolutionary biology. The first three years at university I studied medicine (and as such have full preclinical biomedical science training) before deciding that I didn't want to be a doctor and wanted to study something I was passionate about. Since transferring, I have been able to expand my knowledge across a very wide range of areas that I would relish the chance to pass on.
I have worked at Bristol Zoo for three summers - the first two I was a Dinosaur Ranger (probably the coolest job title I will ever have) and was responsible for teaching guests about dinosaurs and the wider prehistoric past. In 2014 I worked as a seasonal ranger, educating guests about more contemporary animals such as lemurs and meerkats instead! I have also been a senior resident at Hiatt Baker Hall at the university for the last two years - a role that requires me to provide pastoral and academic support to first year students should they need it.
People have to be excited about something to properly engage with it. When I teach, I try to find the angle which will provoke an interest in a subject. This means each lesson would be personally tailored to the student in question in order to keep up their motivation for learning. Teaching itself would be structured around debate and questioning that will bring the student into the lesson to participate directly in the learning experience.
