As a parent and educator, I could not be more invested in your/your child’s education as well as understanding the impact this will have on your/their future. I live and breathe education and have witnessed the barriers that come from not making the expected grade. It is this that pushes me to do everything in my power to assist others in gaining what they deserve.
Being in education is not the same as receiving an education as each teacher comes with a different way of teaching, personality and level of passion. I have always been very passionate about Education and think that everyone should have access to it. This is one of the reasons why I try to keep my prices as low as possible. I am one of the cheapest tutors in Coventry WITH a teaching qualification. I also have my MA in Literature and currently run two businesses, one being a tutoring business. I pride myself on being professional, respectful and understanding and with my varied background; one of my strengths is to be able to connect with different people from various backgrounds, cultures and experiences. I am able to re-engage students who feel they struggle in the subject. I am able to show them easier methods which helps them feel that they can manage the subject better, helping them to gain the confidence that they need. My focus is always the difference that I can make; leaving a student more confident in any particular subject gives me the job satisfaction that I seek.

Tutoring Experience

I have a range of experience from Primary level to A-levels and this includes learners from six to over sixty. My experience includes four colleges, a Sixth Form college, a Primary school and a Secondary school, where I had the opportunity to work with learners with SEN (special educational needs). I am aware of different barriers including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, language barriers as well as something as simple as a general dislike for education/my subjects. I have a TEFL qualification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and continue to look out for barriers to learning and how I can prepare to break these barriers down.
My results to date have been extremely strong and I have worked with learners who have failed their GCSE at least two/three times, but gained passed with me, the highest grade being a seven (equivalent to a B grade)!
I have been an examiner for most of my 10+ years in teaching. I am bi-lingual which helps me to relate to those who have English as a second language as I am very aware and enthused by cultural differences. My teaching style and personality are rather upbeat. Education is not supposed to be a chore, learning and expanding is meant to make us feel powerful. I believe these factors are a part of why I get booked up as quickly as I do through this site as well as through word of mouth.

Tutoring Approach

I find that getting to know an individual has such as impact on their experience and their interest in the subject. I also use what I have learnt about the student to explain methods and resolve any uncertainties that they may have within a subject, for example, if they enjoy football, I use a football example to help them to understand adjectives or algebra - whatever the difficulty may be. This means that I have to keep up with what is relevant and trending. I also use opportunities to learn about other cultures and religions wherever possible - again this allows me to relate to the learner but also to respect their practices and who they are as an individual.
