Information About Alan - Barrow-upon-humber tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Alan:
Alan MBPsS is based in Barton-upon-Humber. My main work is engaging training focused within psychology. I returned to education as a career change at the age of 33 by firstly by completing the Access to HE course in Psychology, Sociology and English. After which I went on to carry out a full British Psychology Society accredited BSc (Hons) in psychology. Then carried out my post/ professional PGCE teaching qualification teaching level 3 psychology, research methods and study skills.
Part of my training was teaching on the Access to HE course which is level 3 and preparation for student to progress on to a degree course, this focused on psychology, research methods and study skills. From there I have up until November 2013 been a psychology lecturer at a local university. I now provide training in various areas, all of which include psychology such as cognitive functions, mental resilience, stress awareness for exams of assessments and human factors. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Association (HEA)
My approach to tutoring is simple. Student focused and student lead, different styles that suit specific learning needs. This I feel is my strongest asset as I am dyslexic and can use it as a gift to make learning engaging. This is supported with a student-led teaching award for the most engaging tutor 2013.
