Alan

I have been teaching Physics at all levels up to A-level since 1975.
I have worked in 4 Liverpool schools and 2 schools on the wirral ( in reality the same school that merged in the late 1980's.
I have a great passion for Physics and feel that good teachers of physics with a deep understanding of the subject are becoming more and more scarce.

Tutoring Experience

1975-1977 Arundel Comprehensive school, Lodge lane, Toxteth, Liverpool.
Teaching Physics and Mathematics to O-Level and CSE and Science and Mathematics in lower school (11 to 14)
1977-1981 Netherley Comprehensive School, Netherley, liverpool.
Teaching Physics to O-level and CSE and A-level, mathematics to O-level and CSE and Science and Mathematics in lower school (11 to 14)
1982-1983 Anfield Comprehensive School, Anfield, Liverpool.
Teaching Physics to O-level and CSE and A-level, mathematics to O-level and CSE and Science and Mathematics in lower school (11 to 14)
1983-1989 Henry Meoles School, Birket Avenue Moreton, Wirral, CH46 1RB
Head of Electronics, teaching and developing Electronics to O-Level and CSE eventually GCSE and developing and delivering an electronics unit in a KS5 BTEC course delivered to students from a consortium of schools including Henry Meoles, Physics to O-Level then GCSE, Science and Mathematics in lower School.
When the national curriculum was introduced electronics was no longer deemed a “technology” subject and as well as teaching Physics and science I taught Design Technology resistant materials to GCSE and in KS3, until Electronic Products was introduced when I then taught and developed Electronics at GCSE and KS3.

1989-2013 Wallasey School, Birket Avenue Moreton, Wirral, CH46 1RB
This school was a merger of Henry Meoles (a boys high school) with Oxley School ( a girls comprehensive school)
By this time combined science had been introduced to replace Physics Chemistry and Biology, So I taught combined science in KS4 this was mainly the Physics elements but occasionally called upon to teach Chemistry and Biology at this level and combined science at KS3. Physics to A-level at KS5 and science at KS3.
In the last few years I have also taught and help develop a BTEC science course at KS4.

Tutoring Approach

Feel I need to develop a deeper understanding of physics in the student and try to inculcate a love of the subject and how it has developed since Newton. As well as impressing the exam technique and skills needed to succeed in achieving the maximum mark in any written examination.
