Information About Aine - Tooting tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Aine:
I am currently employed by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in London, where I am fully immersed and engaged in German language and culture on a daily basis. I also worked as a Communications Facilitator in the German Consulate General in New York City in 2014, requiring an outstanding command of the German language and intimate knowledge of German culture. I recently completed my Bachelor of Arts (International) Degree in Language and Cultural Studies at University College Cork, graduating with First Class Honours. Owing to my academic achievements, I was awarded the title of "College Scholar" for three consecutive years.I spent successive summers working in Germany during my time at university, and also studied German abroad at the University of Bologna, Italy.
I am completely fluent in and truly passionate about German and wish to help my tutees achieve the very best results they can.
I have taught German intermittently since 2012. German was my main area of focus at university, and many modules were dedicated exclusively to the teaching of German as a foreign language. I learned how to tailor teaching methods to suit students' specific needs, and how to hone in on and effectively overcome language difficulties. Following the completion of my university degree, I began tutoring secondary school and college students in Ireland while working for a German outsourcing services provider in Dublin.
As German is not my native language, I am aware of the difficulties in learning it, and the low self-confidence and discomfort that come with learning a foreign language. I am also aware of the many fun and interesting ways to break through these barriers.
I have tutored German to SAT level students during my time in America and, having thoroughly enjoyed helping students achieve their goals, I wish to tutor students in London.
I am currently employed in the German Embassy in London and have previous experience working in the German Consulate General in New York.
Having learned German as a foreign language myself, I am well attuned to the many pitfalls in language learning. I am very much aware of the grammatical and lexical difficulties of the German language and how to overcome potential difficulties with ease.
I excelled in German at school, having been awarded a fully paid scholarship by the German Government following the results of my GSCE (Irish equivalent: Junior Certificate) German exam. This scholarship is only awarded to only 29 students per year and is based on written exams and a competitive interview at the Goethe Institute (**Web Address Removed**).
I also achieved the grade of A* in my A-level German exam. I know how to excel in exam situations, what examiners are looking for and how to best showcase your knowledge of German.
I currently work directly with the German language, culture and people at the German Embassy, and have worked in Germany many times before, immersing myself completely in their language.
I am very enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge of the German language and have a strong passion for and interest in helping others. I am friendly, approachable and like to make sure that students have as much fun as possible while learning. I believe that German should be a vivacious, "live" language, and not merely a burden to be endured and overcome for exams.
I am also very willing to help students at any time of the day via email or text, and am committed to making tutees feel comfortable and at ease with the language.
