I am a former Commissioned Officer in the British Army with an Economics with Accounting BSc (hons) degree from Loughborough University.
I love interacting with people and helping them achieve their goals. As such, teaching is a real passion of mine; I am currently on Maternity leave and will commence a PGCE after this ends in 2019. I have experience working in a number of secondary schools as a Maths Teaching Assistant, across a range of ages.
I am also a keen learner myself, I am self-taught in Spanish, so am aware of lots of learning strategies to help make the knowledge stick.
Key Stage 2 - 3 : Maths.
GCSE: Maths and Physics.
After University, I was an Army Officer for 7 years and have had vast experience in tutoring adults (soldiers) working towards their Key Skills Level 2 and 3 in Numeracy, as well as those who were resitting their Maths and Science GCSE's.
I have worked in a number of secondary schools as a teaching assistant, helping students understand and grasp GCSE maths and will be starting a PGCE in 2019 after my maternity leave.
I believe that practice is the best way to pass exams, as the technique can often throw even the brightest minds!
My main focus is to develop confidence with the subject, as maths is one of those subjects which can scare a lot of people (particularly parents!)
I tend to focus on exam style questions and work through these methodically. If something does not make sense, we then revisit this subject and concentrate on understanding this before trying more questions.
