I am currently studying a PhD at the university of Dundee after graduating with a 1st class honors degree in Anatomy and Physiology as well as a Masters in immunology. I have now been tutoring Biology in Dundee for over 3 years and thoroughly enjoy it, tutoring students from primary up to university levels.
Throughout my degree I have been teaching biology, helping fellow students pass their exams and I have been tutoring students in higher biology for over three years. I am also currently tutoring my two younger brothers in both higher and advanced higher chemistry and biology.
My approach is to go through the lessons with the student and explain it as I go through, to make sure the student understands everything. After each section, I set questions for the student to make sure they have understood correctly and if necessary go over it again. In my opinion, understanding the lesson is far more important than learning off by heart, especially in biology. If the student can explain the biology by themselves in their own words, then it is far less likely that they will get confused during essay questions and multiple choice questions.
