Helo! Sut mae i chi?
My name is Adriene (Dri, for short). I'm originally from Brazil, where I graduated in Veterinary Sciences and got a master's degree in Animal Science.
Science, specially biology, has always been a huge passion and a big part of my life. I love sharing my enthusiasm with others and I'm always looking for science in common day-to-day things or events!
I look forward to help you achieve your personal goals and will try to make it fun and interesting so that the path to success is a bit easier!
From as young as 12 years old, I used to be asked to help other children with their learning. I've always enjoyed studying and was glad to help my friends with their revision. As a vet student, I tutored year 1's on animal anatomy for four semesters. After I finished my veterinary degree, I pursued a master's degree, which meant I had to study education and how to be a teacher. Since I moved to the UK two years ago, I've been tutoring GCSE level pupil in Cardiff and now look forward to doing the same in Bangor!
I believe we all learn better studying together. So, I like to think of myself as a study partner, who facilitates learning and appreciation for the subject, which, in turn, will motivate the pupils to, independently, pursue their learning journey further.
When I'm tutoring, I always present the topics in a very visual way. I prepare my lessons using MS Power Point presentations and provide written worksheets full of information and questions. In addition, I try to bring real life examples and perform small experiments to consolidate the information in the pupil's mind.
Finally, I'm a firm believer in "practice makes perfect", so I always bring as many past exam questions as I can and work on them together with the student pointing out any mistakes and places where the answers could be improved, working the thought process of how to correct them and praising their achievements.
