Craft and Design
I am a patient and enthusiastic person with a passion for art and design.
In my own work, I am interested in the small details surrounding me, capturing a moment otherwise unnoticed. I enjoy using layers of imagery and the written word to explore and express those moments and their personal meaning to me. I use drawing, painting, photography, collage and digital processes to create my large-scale pieces.
I have worked in education for 10 years, with experience as a Secondary teacher, working with KS3, 4 and 5, for the last 4 years. I have taught Fine Art, Unendorsed Art, Graphic Design and Photography with Edexcel and OCR at GCSE level and Fine Art, Unendorsed Art and Graphic Design with OCR at AS and A level. I am passionate about finding the best way for each individual student to learn and explore their unique potential.
I have a Fine Art degree, specialising in sculpture, from Falmouth College of Arts, a secondary teaching certificate, from the University of Cambridge, and further experience in drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media and installation.
I have always believed there are multiple ways to be creative and the best way to find your creative strengths are by exploring a variety of materials and processes.
Creative expression offers the opportunity to stretch and broaden the imagination, allowing greater creative thinking and problem solving skills.
