Information About Adam - Cardiff tutor
I'm an American who studied Physics in undergraduate university. I then taught for four years in the US before coming over here to do a masters' degree. Besides science, I have interests in music and sport, but sadly had to leave both of these behind. I played banjo in a country band, and was a baseball umpire back in the US.
I taught Advance Placement physics for four years in the US. This is a first-year university level course that is taught to secondary school students. It involves an extensive use of the calculus, so I am quite familiar with teaching the higher levels of maths along with the physics. I have tutored several students one-on-one to help them through their exams, and have so far had very good results.
I like to ask questions. Physics and maths, like all scientific disciplines, are based on a ruthless pursuit of logic. Therefore, if we start from first principles, with guided questioning the student will realize the more complex laws for him- or herself. Memorizing equations is one thing, but to understand the physics one has to puzzle it out, always asking "does this make sense?" Only once that question is answered with a definite "yes" has understanding been achieved.
