I am an experienced teacher and freelance musician based in Waterlooville. I perform in many different styles of music across the UK and cater my teaching for the individual.

As an educator, I am experienced in teaching all Brass instruments and can provide lessons on an individual or grouped basis for all ages.

I gained my BMus (hons) from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Trumpet performance, Qualified Teachers Status from the University of Reading and hold a DBS.

Tutoring Experience

I am a Professional Trumpet player and teacher based in Waterlooville and currently teach locally in schools and privately.

Prior to moving to Waterlooville, I studied music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama studying under Philippe Schartz (Principal Trumpet of BBC National Orchestra of Wales), Dean Wright (Principal Trumpet of the Welsh National Opera) and Steve Waterman (Jazz Trumpet Artist).

I have performed with a number of different orchestras and bands including; BBC National Orchestra of Wales, RPO, St Davids Festival Orchestra, British Sinfonietta and YMSO. I have also been fortunate enough to perform on both BBC Television/Radio and S4C.

As an educator, I teach all Brass instruments from beginner to post grade 8 and have had a number of students progress into prestigious ensembles and music schools. Such as; the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain, National Youth Orchestra (Inspire Programme), The Royal Welch College of Music and Drama and the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music.
I have also been invited to coach Trumpet and Brass students of the Hampshire County Youth Brass Bands, Hampshire County Youth Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of Berkshire Maestros.

Tutoring Approach

A solid foundation is the basic building block to any aspiring musician. Breathing, posture and embouchure are the basic fundamentals all brass players need to create a good sound on their instrument. Music learning should always be fun and enjoyable, and I try to push and inspire my students to stretch their own musical ability and character.
