This is how 2 referees rated Adam:
My name is Adam and I am the KS5 (A-level) Co-ordinator at a secondary school in Birmingham. My specialism is biology but I can teach all sciences up to GCSE. I am a social, ambitious and open person and strive to get the best for my students.
I have experience of teaching at higher, further and secondary education levels. I hold a Masters in Research and have four years of laboratory experience. I was a seminar leader and laboratory demonstrator at Newcastle University for undergraduate students. I am currently a science teacher at a secondary school in Birmingham with responsibility for Biology A-levels. I have extensive experience of AQA and OCR Biology syllabus for KS5. I teach all three sciences from Year 7 to Year 11, with experience in Edexcel, OCR and AQA exam-boards.
In recent exams, there is a great emphasis being placed on abstract, synoptic thinking in exams which means students are not only expected to know the theory but to apply it to unknown situations. To address this, I always ask probing questions to my tutees and always pose unknown situations (often extra-curricular) in front of them. This encourages independent learning, application of knowledge and builds exam technique. I always strive to get the best of my tutees and am open to adapting my approach to meet specific tutee needs.
