Personal Description:

I graduated from the Glasgow School of Art Painting and Printmaking department with a double first honours in 2013. During my undergraduate I also spent a semester on exchange studying Painting at the Pratt Institute of art and Design in New York. I am an active practising artist, with a passion for the facilitation and instruction of art, design, craft and critical understanding of contemporary and historical art.

I am a highly technically skilled painter, printmaker and photographer with plenty of experience in arts education for all ages and abilities.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had recent experience teaching in higher education: in the Forum for Critical Inquiry department (art history and contextual studies) at the Glasgow School of Art and I have given one-to-one tutorials for final year fine art students at the City of Glasgow College.

I have lead technical craft workshops for children and adults, ranging in abilities from beginner to advanced. This includes materials and methods in painting (oil. acrylic & watercolour), drawing, printmaking and working from life.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a strong belief that the traditional methods of art making are the foundation of contemporary or experimental art practice.

Therefore, I insist that students learn and appreciate the heritage of art practice - both practically and historically - so as to forge a wide ranging, critical understanding of their work.

As a recent graduate I have a precise understanding of what Art schools, colleges and universities are looking for in portfolio submission and personal statements. I am keen to offer specialised one to one tutorship to students seeking to develop their portfolios for higher education submission.
