Personal Description:

I am an astrophysicist with a PhD in theoretical physics. I currently work at the University of Southampton as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Mathematical Sciences department. Prior to this, I was a research fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.

Tutoring Experience:

I have lectured and tutored courses in Physics and Mathematics at University level and graduate school level. I have also taught Math and Science to secondary and high-school students.

I have co-lectured a course on Introductory Mathematics for Chemists and Oceanographers at the University of Southampton covering topics from basic algebra to calculus, and presented lectures in Physics (Electromagnetism) and 2 graduate level (Msc/PhD) courses in Mathematics. During my "PhD-days" I was a Teaching Assistant where I led discussion-based classes in Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

Over the almost 9 years in academia I have come across various students and noticed how each student has his/her own unique way of learning and understanding concepts. I find that the best way for a student to learn is to discover ideas and concepts on their own, and my duty as a tutor will be to guide them through the correct channel built uniquely for them.

From my personal experience, I have noticed that learning math and science goes a long way than just passing grades and making progress in school/university - the problem-solving skills developed at this (early) age goes a long way.

Here are my four cornerstones to effective teaching/tutoring:
* Enthusiasm is contagious - an exuberant and enthusiast tutor can inspire a student.
* Stimulating curiosity and interest are one of the key ingredients.
* Effective questioning is a very important tool that fosters critical thinking.
* Introducing concepts either with its applications to the ongoing research or by telling the history behind the making of the concept helps the student understand the relevance.
