I am currently teaching maths at an independent school in the north west. I have experience of Gcse and A level tutoring. Also have a thorough understanding of the new Gcse examinations.
I have worked in a faith school as a volunteer and teacher. I have also volunteered in a state school in Blackburn where I was an assistant teacher for a while. During my Pgce year I was placed at Clitheroe Grammar School and Carr Hill High School. I was able to gage a wide understanding of teaching during these placements due to the nature of both schools. During my induction year as a teacher I worked in a challenging school in Oldham. I am currently employed by an independent school in Blackburn as a teacher of Maths up to A-level.
The approach I take to tutoring is that its not school and the student should not feel at any time that they cant ask me anything, I am there to help the student and any question is better than no question. Also the student needs to feel comfortable with the tutor. I make a lot of effort in preparing for my students next lesson by getting exam style questions and getting different exam boards questions to see how the question may be worded differently.
