Personal Description:

Hello! I am a graduate of the Royal College of Music with the degree of Master of Music in Performance. My bachelor’s in music degree is achieved at the Royal Northern College of Music with Distinction.

I have given solo recitals around the UK, including St Ann’s Church and Emmanuel Church in Manchester, Tuned In Centre in Redcar, St Mary’s Abbots Church in London, and many more.

I speak fluent English, Mandarin, and Cantonese and am comfortable teaching in all these languages.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 8 years of piano teaching experience, with students aged from 6 to 18, in different cultural backgrounds. My students have a 100% passing rate in the ABRSM piano and theory exams. I am happy to take students of any level and age and help them achieve their goals.

I taught at the St Philips RC Primary School in 2018, where I mainly gave one-to-one piano lessons and also organized group music activities and student concerts. I was also a member of the piano teaching scheme at the Royal Northern College of Music in which I gain more experience in teaching students from age 6-12.

Tutoring Approach:

I have received two years of professional music pedagogy training from the Royal Northern College of Music, where I trained to design piano teaching materials and teach with Dalcroze and Kodály teaching methods.

I see myself as a patient, sympathetic and open-minded teacher. Every child is different in character and ability, I am good at recognizing their individualities and using different teaching approaches accordingly. Learning the piano requires consistent effort input, apart from guiding my student to work through the technical bit, I am also good at making the learning process as interesting and fun as possible, especially for young beginners.

My 6 years of professional training in conservatoire enable me to give my students advice in actual music performance, alongside learning the music history and theory. I am happy to prepare my students for grade exams, school, and conservatoire auditions, of course, learning the piano as a hobby is welcome!
