ONLINE LESSONS ARE AVAILABLE! I am an experienced concert pianist, ballet pianist, piano accompanist and piano tutor. I completed both of my Master and Bachelor with Honours degree in Piano Performance at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with high scholarship. I believe that learning an instrument is an ideal way to cultivate one's taste and character and build up a lot of essential life skills. The journey of studying music should always be fun and I have great passion to lead the way for my students to the fascinating world of music.
As a ballet pianist, I work as resident pianist for Royal Ballet School Associate, Royal Birmingham Ballet One Dance and Elmhurst Ballet School. As a solo concert pianist, my repertory covers various genres such as classical, contemporary, pop, and world music. Meanwhile, I also work regularly with other musicians and artists. My recent public performances include: playing in Film Music Concert with Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Pop Orchestra and Sir. Lenny Henry; Hosted and performed Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto N0.5 concert; Performed in Master class and concerts in Spoleto, Italy; Performed in Summer Concert at Earlsdon Methodist Church, Coventry; Performed in Easter Piano Festival at Falkland Island Memorial Chapel, Reading and Performed in Pre-concert showcase at Symphony Hall, Birmingham. I enjoy playing and exploring different music styles and performing for audience very much and I hope I could inspire my students with my strength and experience.
I have fully equipped myself with various teaching methods and teaching experience as a piano tutor. I studied Music Pedagogy at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and have done many teaching placements in many state schools and special needs schools. I have been teaching in schools and privately for years and have a large student range including 4 year old beginners, 68 year old jazz keyboard player, young children with special needs and advanced teenager players. I enjoy every moment I spend with them and it has always been a pleasure to see how much they have progressed.
I have taught in many different schools and tuitions including The Piano School in Coventry, Midlands Academy of Music and regularly host workshops and masterclasses. I also have been teaching privately for years. Apart from piano playing, I also teach music theory, musicianships, aural skills and harmony.
From 2012 till present, my students have 100% pass rate in their ABRMS and GCSE exams. Some advanced students successfully passed the auditions and got into Media, Art or Music colleges.
My teaching is never only about playing the piano. I would like my students to study the piano and music systematically, so my piano teaching always combine with developing student's other musical abilities such as improvising, composing, aural skills, sense of rhythm and pitch, playing by ears, sight-reading, and music history knowledge. I believe that developing and keeping students' interest in music can significantly help their music performance and study progress, so I personalise lesson plans and lesson outcome for each student, based on their characters, strength, abilities, and music preference. I am hoping to share the fun of music with more people and help more students to progress quickly in their piano study.
